Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Healing from Light Wounds

The sports star had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge comes as the sports world shared its support for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
